History of Little Jon Memorial Park:
The 38 acres of land was purchased specifically for
and in memory of Jonathon James Howe by his grandparents Alvin and Jean
Howe. Jon was born 1993 and was lost to those who love him in
2003 in an accident while riding on a golf cart. Jon was a very
happy and energetic little boy who loved parks and to play with other
children. He played the piano and enjoyed going to church
and church functions with his grandma. He felt closest to his
grandpa while riding in the dump trucks and watching him build
roads. Jon use to play on the land that is now the location
of Little Jon Memorial Park and The Wall that Love
Built. The Wall that Love Built is 100 feet long and 8 feet
high made of exposed Aggregate cement. It too was donated so that
others who have lost a child might place a plaque and have a lasting
memorial for them. Mr. & Mrs. Howe have placed a rock garden
around it so flowers may be placed for those loved ones being
remembered. The park also offers 9 cabins with a shower house in
support of those suffering from cancer and those that have survived
cancer. There is plenty of picnic and playground area as well as
ball diamonds and soccer fields. There is a walking path and
they hope to add a BMX bike track.
